Junior Chef
Secondary 4 Normal Academic and Normal Technical pupils did a 3 days Junior
Chef Elective Module at Wishbone Restaurant which is located at Bukit Timah
Plaza. During the 3 days workshop, they were given opportunity to serve, take
orders from the patrons of the restaurant, assisted the chefs in the kitchen
and also learnt on how to manage the ice-cream counter. It was a fruitful and
totally new experience for the pupils. They were broken up into three groups;
the Dessert Group, Kitchen Group and Front line Group. Each day they had a chance
to experience different sections of the restaurant. Most of them commented that
even though they had a strenuous time as a front-liner, they were glad that
the patrons were patient and showed understanding towards them since it was
their first time serving food to people. Those pupils who helped out in the
kitchen managed to learn some cooking skills and techniques from the restaurant’s
chefs. This enrichment programme is surely a stepping stone for the pupils to
decide on their future endeavours.
